SIR WILLIAM ROBINSON
"Adra". - "Mention of His Excellency, Sir William Robinson, recalls the road of that name. Robinson Road must, however, have been so called after His Excellency, Sir Hercules Robinson, who, I understand left Hongkong to go to South Africa. The name Robinson is also noteworthy in that Nathan Road, Kowloon, before it was widened, was known as Robinson Road. Could you tell me after which of the two Governors it was so called? I should think Sir William, for in the days when Sir Hercules was Governor, I doubt if such a road was in existence in Kowloon. We must also presume that the name of Robinson Road, Kowloon, was dropped because of possible postal confusion between that road and the older road of the same name in Hongkong."
The former Robinson Road (now Nathan Road) in Kowloon was most probably called after Sir William Robinson.
